Lost and Found Named Quarterfinalist at the 2026 Vail Film Festival Screenplay Competition
The short screenplay Lost and Found written by Robert Pierosh has been named a Quarterfinalist in the Screenplay Competition at the Vail Film Festival, taking place December 3–6, 2026, in Vail, Colorado.
Produced by the nonprofit Colorado Film Institute, the Vail Film Festival champions independent voices in film and screenwriting, bringing together filmmakers, writers, and industry professionals in an intimate mountain setting.
Lost and Found is a 15-minute short screenplay that follows Loretta, an invisible office worker whose discovery of a mysterious gift-wrapped box sets off a chain of events -- one improbable coincidence that may quietly alter the course of her life. The story explores themes of invisibility, chance, and the subtle ways transformation can arrive when least expected.
Robert Pierosh is a writer and artist whose work blends dark humor, queerness, and emotional truth. His plays, essays, and screenwriting explore identity and memory through offbeat characters and quietly defiant moments, and his writing has appeared in The New York Times. He finds comedy in the uncomfortable and meaning in the mess -- usually while trying to sleep.
