Fine art photography commissions process, photographer taking a portrait

Commissions

Robert Pierosh accepts a limited number of fine art photography commissions each year and works one-on-one with individuals, families, and organizations to create thoughtful, intentional photographic work.

His practice is inclusive and affirming, and he welcomes clients of all backgrounds, ages, body types, gender identities, and sexual orientations. Commissions can range from a single portrait to longer, story-based or institutional projects.

What He Offers (Fine Art Photography Commissions)

Portrait Commissions

One-on-one portrait sessions created with care and attention to the person being photographed. Each session is shaped around identity, story, and presence — not a standardized photo shoot, but a collaborative experience. Examples of this work can be seen in the Portfolio

Story-Based & Documentary Projects

Longer-form projects that may include multiple sessions, interviews, personal artifacts, or layered documentation, often created to preserve or reflect a meaningful story or moment.

Institutional & Organizational Commissions

Work created for museums, cultural organizations, publications, and public art contexts.

A Welcoming Practice

Robert’s studio and working process are intentionally inclusive, respectful, and affirming.

He welcomes:

  • LGBTQ+ clients and families
  • People of all races, cultures, religions, and backgrounds
  • People of all ages, sizes, and abilities

If there are access needs, concerns, or specific requests, clients are encouraged to share them — he will do his best to accommodate.

How It Works

  1. The process begins with a conversation about what the client hopes to create and why it matters to them.
  2. Robert suggests an approach, timeline, and scope that fit the goals of the project.
  3. The session or project is scheduled and carried out.
  4. Finished work is prepared and presented for selection and purchase.

Each project is handled individually. Timelines and pricing vary depending on scope.

Portrait commissions are structured as a creative session fee plus the purchase of finished artwork.

Some clients spend around $2,500, while others invest more depending on the number of images, scale, and format.

The creative session fee covers Robert’s time, planning, and the photography session itself. Finished images are purchased separately as museum-quality prints, with corresponding digital files included with each purchased piece.

Longer-form or institutional projects are quoted individually.

Availability

Robert accepts a limited number of commissions at a time. Depending on the season and scope of the work, new projects may be scheduled several weeks to a few months out.

If timing is important, it’s best to reach out early to discuss availability.

These fine art photography commissions are offered on a limited basis and are best suited for clients looking for a collaborative, intentional process.
